Official Charities
Over the years the Plymouth Half Marathon has seen many good causes and charities benefit from the event, with many hundreds of thousands of pounds being raised. You could undertake your own fundrasing through
www.justgiving.com.
Each Year we select a good cause to be our Nominated Charity of the year.
We're delighted that this year’s Nominated Charity is CHICKS.

CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged children. These children include those in care or suffering poverty, child carers, victims of abuse and children whose parents are addicts. CHICKS provide these children with a free, fun filled respite break at either their Devon or Cornwall retreats. This year we are celebrating our 18th anniversary and would be delighted if you join our team to help raise much needed money to fund the free respite breaks for underprivileged children who come from all over UK including many from the West Country.

St Luke's Hospice Plymouth
At St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth, staff are dedicated to providing free high quality palliative care and support to patients from across the South West of Devon and Cornwall as they reach a most critical point in their lives. St Luke’s cares for hundreds of patients each year in there ‘preferred place of care’ whether that is at the Hospice, at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital or in their own homes. St Luke’s costs more than £5 million each year to run. Sadly, due to lack of Government funding, £3.5 million of that figure must be raised within the local community by the hospice events and fundraising team.

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association
Our mission is to fund and promote research to bring about an end to MND. Until then we will do all that we can to enable everyone with MND to receive the best care, achieve the highest quality of life possible, and die with dignity. We will also do all that we can to support the families and carers of people with MND.
The Association funds and promotes research to understand what causes MND, how to diagnose it and, most importantly, how to effectively treat it so that it no longer devastates lives.
We also campaign nationally and locally for better care for all people with MND, and provide support and advice to help people with the disease and those who care for them to achieve the highest quality of life possible.

Drake Foundation
What is the Drake Foundation?
We are a local community charity, covering the Plymouth travel to work area, supporting small voluntary and community groups by providing grants to help their cause.
What causes do you support?
The Drake Foundation supports a wide range of local organisations and local people of all ages. We help charities and voluntary groups, supporting education, training, sport, environment and care. In partnership with Devon Community Foundation we have already allocated grants worth over £150,000 to local causes.
What are the benefits of supporting the Drake Foundation?
We are working on the Plymouth Grassroots scheme where all of the money we raise is match funded, so a £100 donation with gift aid made to the Plymouth Grassroots challenge is worth £256 to the fund.
We are a ‘no overhead’ charity. Every penny raised goes to worthy causes and all money raised stays in the local community, visit our website or contact Steve Davis Chief Executive.

CLIC Sargent

CLIC Sargent has one simple aim: to ease the burden of childhood cancer on children, young people and their families.
Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years.
As the children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is there… with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.
Our team here in Plymouth support over 30 local children and their families each year. Right now, we are only able to help two out of three families whose child has cancer. Please support us… so we can be there for each and every one.

Taunton Association for the Homeless
Taunton Association for the Homeless (TAH) was established in 1976 by members of the local community who were concerned about the number of homeless people in and around Taunton town centre.
From these humble beginnings, the association has become a locally and nationally respected and recognised organisation, specialising in the housing and support of vulnerable, single homeless people.
Working closely with Taunton Deane Borough Council, Sedgemoor District Council, Somerset County Council and a wide range of national and local agencies, TAH houses and supports over 350 people every year in a variety of accommodation including hostels, a young persons project and supported shared housing.
More recently, TAH has begun to operate the SmartMove scheme aimed at helping single people to more easily access the private rented sector.
