Half Marathon
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Plymouth Half Marathon Company Limited (“We”) is a trading account and registered under company Number: 6948978.
By entering the event/s you agree to abide by these conditions of entry and any race instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the Plymouth Half Marathon, Schools Challenge, Fun Run or any other event associated with it.
It operates a no refund and no carry forward policy once you have entered the event/s.
Its events operates under Licence from UK Athletics.
HALF MARATHON
All entrants must be over the age of 17 years of age.
You must not compete on roller skates/blades, skateboard or any other form of propelled object, or push children/adults around the route in any form of carry.
You must not be escorted or paced by anyone on foot or cycle.
You are not permitted to enter with any animal with the exception of guide dogs; arrangements for guide dogs must be made with the organisers in advance of the event.
We reserve the right to change fees, alter programme details, prizes and prize structures and any aspect of the event management organisations.
For safety reasons and primarily for identification by medical staff, the swapping, sale, resale or transfer of race numbers is strictly prohibited. Participants must complete their details and sign the back of their race number prior to the event.
The organisers reserve the right to refuse an entrant’s attendance at or participation in the event or any future event.
We aim to organise a safe and enjoyable event and hope that you will help us in achieving this. Any participant who is found in breach of these terms and conditions may be excluded from future events.
SCHOOLS CHALLENGE AND FUN RUN
All entrants under the age of 16 years of age must have a parent/guardian signature authorising consent for competing.
MEDICAL CONDITION
It is strongly recommended that you train for the event/s.
All participants are strongly advised to consult with their doctor prior to undertaking any exercise programme or running event. It is the responsibility of all participants to ensure they are medically fit to participate in the event.

USE OF IMAGES
By entering the event/s you give permission for the free use of your name, voice or picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising, web site, promotion or other account of this event/s.
COLLECTION & USE OF INFORMATION
I acknowledge and agree that my personal information (including medical information entered on my race number or collected by Event Staff during the event/s or after the event/s) can be stored, used and disclosed by the Organiser in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of the event/s and for the compilation of statistical information.
DATA PROTECTION
We comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and you have the right of access to personal records held on the organiser’s computer on written request.
Your name will be added to the organiser’s mailing list so that we can keep you informed about other events and activities of the event organisers.
ENTRIES – Race Numbers are issued to the individual completing the application. If after entering the race you find you can't run but have identified a friend or colleague who wishes to take your place details must be changed by 3rd May 2010 by contacting plymouthhm@raceahead.co.uk at a cost of £2.50. Thereafter the event will conform to the UK Athletics Rules which quotes "Numbers are issued to the individual completing the application and are non-transferable”.
CANCELLATION – We regret that once entry applications have been processed we cannot refund any entry fee if you do not eventually take part, nor can we carry forward your entry to the following year’s event.
INFORMATION
An Information Desk will be situated on the Hoe Promenade during Race Weekend. Open on Saturday 28th May 2pm - 6pm.

REGISTRATION
No Half Marathon registration or entries on the day.
CAR PARKING
Due to the fact that there are road closures surround the Hoe you are advised to park at the following car parks: Theatre Royal and Western Approach (Toys R Us). These car parks will be patrolled on the day, all parking is now pay & display. City centre car parks are signed from all approaches to the city.
STREET CLOSURES
There will be many roads closed from early morning that will prevent vehicle access to the Hoe. Please leave plenty of time to get to the start area and the Hoe.
CHANGING and BAGGAGE
Marquees are provided for all Half Marathon competitors. There is a baggage deposit area (please attach luggage label enclosed). For security, baggage will only be returned on production of your race number. The organisers accept no liability for anything left in the baggage area.
TOILETS
At Race start public conveniences are situated on the east end of the Hoe Promenade supplemented by additional conveniences in the form of 'Portaloos', this includes disabled facilities. Additional 'Portaloos' will be situated in Saltram Park (6 Miles) and at the 10 mile point.
CLUB RUNNERS
You are reminded to run in your club colours. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from team categories.
RACE NUMBERS
Must be worn on the front of vest. Competitors are not permitted to discard or cover up any logo or advertisement associated with the race organisation. YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO FINISH WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL RACE NUMBER.
START - FINISH
The 'start' will be in Royal Parade and the 'finish' situated on the Hoe Promenade. Half Marathon runners begin to line up at 08.50am for the 09.00am start (wheelchair athletes will start 5 minutes earlier). There are time indication boards to divide runners into their expected finish time. Please line up in appropriate area. Traffic calming measures are in place in Hoe Road and Madeira Road.
BE CAREFUL! No children are to be lifted over the barriers or to enter the finish area.
REAL TIME
The Timing Clock on the gantry in Start/Finish area will show the real time prior to the start.
RACE TIMING
The first 100 finishers will be timed using hand held stop watches to the next second in accordance with UKA rules. First man and lady will be timed to the nearest 1/10second. The rest of the field will be timed using ChampionChip timing, supplied by Raceahead.
Race positions are decided on gun time. Remember - No Chip, No Time.
DISTANCE
The 13.1 mile course is certified as accurate by UKA and was measured using a Jones Wheel.
MILE MARKERS
Mile markers are placed every mile. Directional arrows and “caution runner” signs are placed throughout the route.
WATER STATIONS
Four water stations are strategically placed on the course and at the finish (indicated on the route map and signposted in advance on the course). Please give consideration to other runners and discard empty bottles to the side of the road. Only take one bottle, think of those behind you.
SPONGE STATIONS
Two sponge stations will be provided (indicated on the route map) manned by Scouts. Water kindly supplied by South West Water.

ELITE ATHLETES
Race Numbers <50. Please assemble behind the wheelchair athletes by 08:55, from where you will be escorted to the front of the race field.
MEDICAL BACKUP
Pioneer Medical Services will be positioned at various points on route, as well as at the finish. There will also be mobile units out on the course. Any athlete with a known medical problem is advised to write medical instructions on the back of their race number.
Please indicate with a Red X on the front of your number. Please only seek medical assistance if serious.
EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS
Please supply an emrgency contect telephone number in the space provided on the rear of your race number.
MARSHALS & POLICE
Race marshals will be positioned at all major junctions, as will the police. Marshals will also cover minor junctions ensuring runners maintain the authorised route. Always keep to the left hand side of the roads. Please obey instructions given by police/marshals at all times. For safety reasons, please refrain from wearing personal stereos and ipods during the race.
LEAD CAR / BACK UP
A lead car with race timing will proceed the front runners. A back-up vehicle will follow the last runners until 11.30.
EMERGENCIES
A number of race marshalls and medical staff will have two-way radio facilities on route.
ROUTE CLEARANCE
At 11.30am, marshals and water stations will be withdrawn. At this time all participants will become pedestrians and should proceed as such. If you think you will take longer than 2.5 hours to finish, please detach the race map from the centre pages of the Race Booklet issued to you and keep that map with you on route. At 12.00 hours the race infrastructure will be removed.

TRADE STANDS and ENTERTAINMENT
Don’t forget to take the opportunity to visit the various charity and trade exhibitions.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
Free pre and post race service adjacent to the changing area supplied by Asclepion.
PRIZE GIVING
The presentation of prizes will take place at approximately 10.30am, at the V.I.P. Unit. For the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and females only.
All other awards will be published and awarded after the event.
SPOT PRIZES
Numerous spot prizes will be awarded to Half Marathon Runners. Vouchers will be issued at random as athletes leave the finish area. Prizes can be collected from the Information Desk on production of the spot prize voucher
PACE GROUPS
Tamar Trotters will be providing pace runners covering the following target times: 1.30, 1.45 and 2.00hrs. They will be wearing lime green vests and carrying time boards.
Run under UK Athletics rules, race referee’s decision is final.
ATHLETES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO RUN WITH DOGS AND MUST COMPETE ON FOOT. CYCLISTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ACCOMPANY ATHLETES.
