LATEST NEWS: 23rd December 2016

Following our statement yesterday (see below) we would like to apologise for any misunderstanding and would like to clarify the current situation regarding Plymouth's Half Marathon.

Run Joy recently purchased the rights to 'Plymouth's Half Marathon' from the previous organisers GO2 Events in good faith. We have no connection to them or their previous events.

Plymouth City Council invited us to tender for the event a short time ago. The vision of co-owner James Cracknell and the Run Joy team was to develop the event further and incorporate the race within a South West Half Marathon Series, which is currently being developed. However, the Council has recently informed us that an alternative company will be delivering a Half Marathon in Plymouth in April 2017 called The Ocean City Half Marathon.

We, as Run Joy, whilst very disappointed that we will not be delivering the original Plymouth's Half Marathon will continue to develop mass participation running events in the South West and very much hope that you might take part in one of our events in the future.

Happy Christmas and New Year!

LATEST NEWS: 22nd December 2016

Dear Runner,

Sadly the official "Plymouth Half Marathon" will not take place in 2017.

We are in discussion with Plymouth City Council and hope to announce details about future events soon.

As a gesture of good will, everyone who pre-registered for the 2017 event will be offered a discounted entry to the next event.

In the meantime why not register for one of our other South West Half Marathon's

The Great West Run - Exeter's Half Marathon

Cheltenham Half Marathon - entries open 10am on Boxing Day

Keep training hard and have a very happy Christmas and New Year!

All the best,

James Cracknell and the Run Joy Team.

Your challenge

Plymouth’s Half Marathon is a much celebrated traffic-free road race, which takes in all that is great about Plymouth. It offers stunning coastal views, a charming harbour and the beautiful National Trust grounds of Saltram Park, as well as the iconic Plymouth Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake once played bowls!
